Patricia Gill, director, Geo-Environment at Tetra Tech, recently spoke to The ENDS Report about her career and role at Tetra Tech.
What does your current role involve?
I lead the geo-environment team of 30 staff in Tetra Tech’s Leeds office, part of a national team of 100. The team covers contaminated land, environmental due diligence, ground investigation and geotechnical design.
My role is split between project work, the majority of which deals with the regeneration of brownfield sites, pursuing new opportunities and bidding for work, and managing the team. I’m responsible for the team’s financial performance, line management and recruitment. I also recently set up Tetra Tech’s Chartership Training Scheme with The Geological Society.
How did you land your current role?
After completing a degree in geology and geography, I embarked on my career with a few months’ work experience with water engineering consultants Rofe Kennard and Lapworth (RKL), where I worked on ground investigations on three embankment dams in the Pennines. My time at RKL allowed me to gain some work experience prior to starting my master’s degree in engineering geology at Imperial College, London.
